Dr. A John Kanellopoulos is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University Medical School and former Assistant Professor and Residency Training Director at SUNY Brooklyn. He served as President of the International Society of Refractive Surgery at the AAO. Since 1996, he has been active in New York City, authoring over 130 articles, chapters, and editorials. He has presented over 1,000 papers internationally, receiving the AAO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. His research includes laser treatment customization, early keratoconus diagnosis, and corneal healing. He pioneered sub-1.6 mm incision laser cataract surgery and developed the Athens Protocol CXL for keratoconus.
