艾莉森博士本科毕业于圣母大学，眼视光学博士学位取得于纽约州立大学视光学院。她在伊利诺伊视光学院完成了双眼视觉与小儿视光学方向的住院医师规范化培训项目。

她任职于伊利诺伊视光学院，担任教授一职，同时兼任住院医师项目主任。艾莉森博士是美国视光学会院士、视觉发育视光医师学会（COVD/OVDRA）院士，拥有美国视光学会双眼视觉、视觉感知与小儿视光学专科认证医师资质，同时为欧洲视光与光学学会院士、美国国家执业研究院杰出学者暨院士。

她担任伊利诺伊州特奥会国际狮子会 “光明之眼” 项目临床主任。曾任美国视光学会双眼视觉、小儿视光学与视觉感知分会主席、视觉发育视光医师学会（COVD）会长、伊利诺伊州视光医师协会会长，现任视觉发育视光医师学会（COVD/OVDRA）国际委员会主席。她发表过多篇学术论文，并在全美及国际范围内开展大量学术报告与专题讲座。

Dr. Allison received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and received her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry.  She completed a residency program in Binocular Vision and Pediatric Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO).  She is currently a Professor at ICO as well as being the Director of Residency Programs. Dr. Allison is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD/OVDRA), an American Academy of Optometry Diplomate in Binocular Vision, Perception, and Pediatric Optometry, a fellow of the European Academy of Optometry &  Optics, and a Distinguished Scholar and Fellow in the National Academies of Practice.  She is the Clinical Director for the Illinois Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes Program. Dr. Allison is a Past- Chair of the American Academy of Optometry Binocular Vison, Pediatric Optometry and Perception section, a Past-President for COVD, and a Past-President of the Illinois Optometric Association, and the current Chair of the International Committee for COVD/OVDRA.  She has published numerous articles, and given many presentations and lectures both nationally and internationally.
